A SECURITY guard struggled with two robbers when he was attacked on a Metrolink tram platform.
The guard was emptying money from a ticket machine at Radcliffe station when a white man tried to snatch the cash box from him.
A second man joined the scuffle before the guard was forced to let go of the money and both robbers fled.
They drove off in a silver Land Rover Land Cruiser which was later found abandoned and on fire. Police confirmed the guard was not injured.
The first man is described as white, in his 30s, 5ft 9ins tall, balding, over weight and clean shaven.
His accomplice was also white, aged approximately 25-years, 5ft 8ins tall, thick set, wearing scruffy grey clothing and a hat.
Detectives are studying security camera in a bid to identify the robbers.
