WITH regard to the headlines in the Bolton Evening News on Saturday, October 6, concerning yobs around Tonge Moor Medical Centre, my wife and I actually saw what you were referring to.
We were visiting my father in the Thicketford Community Care Centre. When we came out of the centre there was a crowd of yobs, at least 30 or so, most of them drinking beer, and I don't think any of them were old enough to drink.
The manageress of the Community Centre said she had phoned the police 20 minutes earlier, so we phoned them again on 999, only to be told it was not an emergency and that it was being dealt with.
If yobs vandalising cars, frightening very old people and staff of the care centre is not an emergency, I don't know what is.
We are disgusted with the police, they keep saying they are short of man power. To a point I agree, but come a football match or an organised demonstration you will see lots of policemen and women in attendance.
It is about time these yobs got what they deserve, and not a lollipop for all the trouble they cause. The do-gooders have a lot to answer for. I have met a few do-gooders and they make me sick to my stomach.
