LOST carp were the main talking points of a well-attended Novices Trophy Match at Heskeths Reservoir in the Bolton Co-op AC's latest Sunday fixture.

Ray Armstrong had the edge in a peg to peg duel, opting for pole and red maggot in netting 4-13-8, just a fish in front of experienced Dennis France, who fished the waggler and pinky with his usual pin-point accuracy for 3-15-13.

Unluckiest angler was Ste Walsh, fresh from his recent three hour evening match and a 29lb victory. He was left wondering what might have been after losing a double figure carp at the net after playing the fish for over 10 minutes.

Drawn at peg 9 on the wall Terry Carter stuck it out with the long pole and meat for his third placed 3-13-0, again just a good fish behind the winner.

Results: 1 Ray Armstrong, peg 13, 4-13- 8 (bream & carp); 2 Dennis France, peg 12, 3-15-12 (carp & bream); 3 Terry Carter, peg 17, 3-13- 0 (skimmers); A Section winner Paul Chan, peg 3, 2-10-0; B Section winner Keith Holland, peg 17, 2- 8-8.
