PLANS for a takeaway in Blackrod have been rejected by the town council.
The councillors voted unanimously against granting permission for the business to open in New Street after listening to the concerns of residents.
Councillors rejected the plans on the grounds of highway safety as the village is already heavily congested.
The plans will now be considered by Bolton Council's planning committee. A group of people from New Street organised a petition claiming that the takeaway would be an eyesore, but
