OASIS are back!

They're back on stage, back to writing brilliant music and even better they are back to their roots.

Liam and Noel Gallagher dispensed with the lavish and ludicrous sets of the Be Here Now Tour of 1997.

Instead the 3,000-strong crowd saw five lads use nothing more than their voices, guitars and drums to belt out their back catalogue of incredible songs.

Tickets were changing hands for up to £200 and what fans got was a show that was pure and so, so simple.

Noel's solo slot produced the best ever version of Half The World Away.

Later, the Smith's Johnny Marr joined the band for a sparkling rendition of Champagne Supernova and songs such as The Masterplan and Acquiese went down a storm.

Liam was unusually quiet considering his mammoth outbursts at Wembley last year.

The band, instead, concentrated on playing one wonderful song after another and even threw in two new ones -- both similar to the splendour of their Definitely Maybe offerings and great signs of things to come.

There was no sibling rivalry -- the only scrap came when Liam threw his tambourine into the crowd and two men squabbled fiercely over it.

Yet it ended so soon. Although it went on for two hours, there was no denying we all wanted more.

They didn't play Wonderwall, D'Yer Know What I Mean, Stand By Me, or Cast No Shadow. But Oasis have produced such a vast volume of favourites that I could have spent five hours in the company of the Gallaghers. David Crookes
