BOLTON Wanderers Ladies' two unbeaten sides continued their impressive progress in recent games.
The Under 12A squad remained unbeaten, recording its fourth win in five league games with an excellent 6-0 win away to Foxhall Girls. Wanderers now lead their group table by four points and look a good prospect for the title.
Against Foxhall, all the goals came in the first half with Wanderers easing up in the second having already guaranteed the points. Goalscorers were Rebecca Abbott (2), Faye Knowles, Vicky Coope, Kirsty Bennett and Helen Baron.
The women's team returned to league action after three successive cup wins and maintained their 100 per cent record with a fine 7-2 win at home against Newsham.
They were 3 - 0 up by half time with two goals from Ann Truffas, separated by a goal from Joanne Fairclough. In the second half, Bolton added one from Kim Bain and a second from Fairclough before Nabeela Butt completed the scoring for Bolton with two goals in the last 11 minutes.
Wanderers Ladies other teams did not quite fare so well. The Under 16s lost 4-3 to Burnley, goals from Gemma Waddington (2) and Vicki Price. The Under 14s faced a very strong Darwen team, who have won each of their games so far and went down 7-0. Similarly, the Under 12B squad faced a very big and strong Darwen team away, and found themselves 12-0 down by half time. Praise is due, though, as the Wanderers did not give up, and gave a spirited second half performance which led to a final score of 16-0.
