REEBOK full-back Dean Holden goes straight into the Oldham squad for Saturday's home game against Bristol City after joining the Latics on a month's loan.
Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce said: "Moving to Oldham for a month will stand Dean in good stead.
"They are at the top of the Second Division and playing well. Regular first team football will improve his development as a player."
The Wanderers' full-back, who has turned down "temp" jobs at FC Haka in Finland and Rochdale, has made a full recovery after breaking his leg 18 months ago ago but a shortage of match practice has stalled his challenge for a first team place.
