FLARES and platform shoes should make a return to Bolton town centre with a 70s revival at a new venue. Maxims pub on Bradshawgate has had an £80,000 refurbishment and will be called Tiger Feet.
The pub now has Charlie's Angels and Scooby Doo prints, tiger print stools, psychedelic pictures and cone-shaped lights covered in silver CDs. Heroes of the day stare down from the walls: John Travolta, Kojak, Starksky and Hutch, and Cagney and Lacey.
The pub will have a resident DJ who will play 70s hits wearing a cream waistcoat and flares, an afro hairdo wig and sunglasses.
Jackie Bignall, aged 25, and Dean Laccohee, aged 30, have moved to Bolton from Blackpool to be the new managers. Miss Bignall said: "Bolton people know how to have a good time and are pretty wild at the weekend. We would like to see a few more guests dressing up in 70s gear to add to the atmosphere."
The managers and their bar staff dress in 70s clothes and wigs when they are working and guests can buy "shades" and wigs at the bar.
