A MAN was killed when he was struck by a rush hour train at Moses Gate.
The 47-year-old Bolton man, who has not been formally identified, stood on the track in front of the oncoming Southport to Buxton train as it approached Moses Gate station.
He is believed to have been a patient at the Royal Bolton Hospital and died instantly in the collision which happened at 4.45pm on Friday.
The incident caused chaos for train commuters trying to get home to Bolton from Manchester.
British Transport Police carried out an investigation into the death but say there were no suspicious circumstances and the coroner has been informed.
