RACHEL Taaffe and Ann Marie Collins, defenders for DB3, are proving to be a formidable team.

Only eight goals were scored by the opposing team while an outstanding 40 goals were successfully shot. Player of the match was Cath Sloane, goal attack for DB3 and Sharon McGuire, goal defence for Bolton Metro Seniors.

Mavericks had their first victory of the season 37-19 against depleted Originals and Howcroft and Thatch & Thistle had a closely fought first half with only four goals separating them. Howcroft moved up a gear with some good defending by Elaine Beattie which held Thatch & Thistle to a further 10 goals while scoring 20 goals in a final score 33-19 to Howcroft.

Kath Swindell, goal defence for Barnstormers was on form against Higsons, allowing only 12 goals to pass through the net. They took the five points with a convincing victory of 33 goals to 12.

In Division 2, Acdoco Angels beat Ramada Jarvis by 22 goals. St. Bonifaces and Skillsoft could only field six players but this did not prevent them scoring a fantastic 38 goals and Walkden A finished their game against BAD Girls with a 24 goal difference. The only close match was between CB's and Darcy Lever. Darcy led at half time 9-6 and continued this lead into the second half. Both centres were marked for their skills - Linda Ramsden and S. Howarth.

Gina Hickman helped Smithills to 37-13 victory against Royal Bank in Division 4. Kim Mawdsley for Royal Bank was voted Player of the Match. Bupa B & Redskins had a closely fought game. Redskins led 3-1 at half time, assisted by on form Audra Corlett's shooting but Bupa B made up the deficit and the match went end to end before Bupa B won by a one goal margin.

Crompton All Stars may be propping up the bottom of Division 5 but they had a good game against Bolton Metro Juniors and were trailing only by three goals at half time after some excellent shooting by Julia Canham. In the end the Metro defence proved too strong with Kirsty Harrington intercepting several balls which Bolton Metro converted to goals in their 33-24 win. goals to Bolton Metro Juniors. B.I.H.E. and Tyldesley continue to head the Division, both these teams have a 100% record. Belmont and Darcy Seven drew seven goals all in a low scoring match. Judith Furness - Centre and Beccy Clemance were voted Players of the Match.
