IN the final match of this season's Cheshire League, Horwich RMI Harriers Ladies continued in their winning form with another victory in the league at Salford's Cleveley Park track.
Following on from their recent home win on their new track at the Bolton Arena, the ladies team produced another excellent performance finishing in top spot with 164 points, ahead of St Helens with 109.
The result means that the Ladies finished in third place overall, out of 18 clubs, on 631 points behind winners Macclesfield AC (667) and Bury AC (646.5).
In the Under 13s, 200m Kirsty Milner produced a new PB of 29.9 to win the 'A' string race. Milner also produced a PB in the 800m to finish second in a time of 2.45.5.
The Under 15s girls achieved maximum points in all events with wins for all four athletes in their respective 800m races with Vicky Harold, 2.39.0, Vicky Fisher, 2.41.5, Hannah Wardman, 2.41.9, and Laura Anderton, 3.01.1. In the 200m, it was the foursome of Loretta Barnett, Janine Mullineaux, Laura Anderton and Vicky Fisher who featured among the points, with respective times of 28.5, 29.6, 29.5 and 29.9. In the discus, it was a double first for Harold and Loretta Barnett, with bests of 26.02m and 18.61m. Janine Mullineaux won the long jump with a new PB of 4.50m. The Under 15s relay team won a close race to beat Deeside in respective times of 55.1 and 55.2.
The final race in the Leyland Worden Park Derian House 10K Road/Trail Series saw some good performances by Horwich RMI Harriers. As in the August race, Kev Gaskell was the first Harrier to finish, lowering his time by three seconds, in eighth place.
In 13th place, and 1st Vet50, was the club's vice chairman and cross country captain, Keith Makin.
In 17th place, Gaynor Higson finished second lady to Anne Powell of Leigh Harriers but came out on top as ther series winning lady. Bolton's Jim McNulty was easily the first vet 65 in 20th place in a super time of 43.36.
The first cross country race of the new season saw three Horwich RMI Harrier ladies tackle a testing but very runnable course at Boggart Hole Clough. In the first fixture in the NW Women's League Jan Rashleigh finished a superb second and first lady vet. Audrey Foster finished first lady vet50. In the U17 and junior ladies race, Gemma Jones finished a super second.
