CELLIST Richard Boardman is on the menu Thursday lunchtime at the St Andrew and St George United Reformed Church.
His will be the second in a series of three lunchtime concerts at the St Georges Road church.
Richard will be accompanied by Simon Ellis.
He is originally from Manchester, and first studied cello at the age of eight with his father, who was then with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1999 he gained a B.Mus(hons) degree at the Royal Scottish Academy of music and Drama, and has played with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. This year he completed his latest music course at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Simon Ellis began piano studies aged 12, and by the age of 16 he was regional finalist of the BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition. He continued his studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, during which time he won a scholarship to travel to America to perform the Grieg Piano Concerto. He now combines teaching privately with performances with members of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and giving recitals throughout the North-west.
The programme will include pieces by Max Bruch and Pagannini.
The concert runs from 12.45pm to 1.30pm with light lunches available from 12 noon.
Next week's performance will feature David Martin on piano.
Admission to the concerts is £1.50.
