Bolton Aquarium has scaled new heights as it plays host to a rare visitor from far-flung waters.
In order to highlight different species, their habitats and breeding habits, the aquarium will be showcasing different fish each month.
This month it is the turn of a trio of stars from Madagascar, one of which has never before been seen in Europe.
This is the paretroplus damii -- or just damii for short -- whose eye-catching black head, vivid orange band and black tail are sure to be a wow with visitors. The damii has never before been bred in captivity.
In the tank with the damii will be the lamena fish and the pinstripe damba which are extinct in the wild. For details of opening times at the Bolton Aquarium in Le Mans Crescent call Bolton 333333.
