A DELIVERY driver was attacked with a hammer by two thieves in balaclavas who stole his van full of computer equipment.
He was collecting goods from PC World in Bury in the white Amtrac Ford Transit at about 7pm on Wednesday.
While the driver was standing outside the store, two men tried to attack him but he managed to drive off. As he stopped at traffic lights in Bury New Road at the junction of Rochdale Road, the men again tried to assault him.
He drove away and when he stopped at lights at Rochdale Road and Heywood Street, the thieves smashed a window in the van and hit him with a hammer. They forced him out of the vehicle, reg no X962 BNC, and drove away with the computer equipment inside.
Three men are believed to have been involved in the robbery and were driving a red Honda Civic, reg J234 YKU which had been stolen from the Trafford Centre on Tuesday. Anyone with information is asked to call CID on Bury on 0161 856 8133.
