A BURGLAR who targeted pubs, a chip shop and an elderly woman's home was today starting a two-and-a-half year jail term.
Darren Fairhurst stole to feed his heroin addiction and when he appeared at Bolton Crown Court he was already serving two years in prison for similar offences.
Fairhurst will serve the latest sentence on completion of the term he is already serving.
Fairhurst, aged 27, of Empire Road, Breightmet, admitted two burglary charges and asked for nine other similar offences to be taken into consideration.
Sharon Amesu, prosecuting, said that on September 8 last year a 70-year-old woman woke up to find she had been burgled, and a watch, cigarettes and cash had been taken.
The second burglary took place in the middle of the night at the Bull's Head pub on Bury Road, Bolton. The landlady woke to find £300 missing from a fruit machine which had also suffered £300 damage. Fairhurst had got in by the fire escape door which suffered £100 damage.
Police found Fairhurst's fingerprints which were matched on a DNA database.
Jailing Fairhurst, Judge William Morris said burglaries of peoples' homes caused real fear which could last some time.
