THE Government has just launched a new national awareness campaign to help recruit more social workers and social carers in your area -- and across the country.
New research has shown that few people understand what social workers do in the community -- and many are influenced by negative media coverage of the profession. We hope that the campaign will give a real insight into the profession -- helping to correct some of the misconceptions that exist.
Social workers support and help thousands of vulnerable people to make choices and improve their lives. The job is diverse, complex and often hard work -- but can be incredibly rewarding. As you read this, local professionals may be helping a family with a disabled child, a young person in trouble with the law, an older person coping with infirmity, or someone with AIDS to cope with their condition.
For further information on a career in social work, please call the national helpline on 0845 604 6404 or log on to www.socialworkcareers.co.uk http.
