GUIDELINES to help protect vulnerable adults from being abused or mistreated have been launched at Bolton Town Hall.
The initiative is aimed at offering advice and support to victims of abuse, concerned relatives or friends, professional staff and residents of care homes.
Anyone who fears they are likely to harm another person can also come forward for help.
It is a partnership between the council, the police, Bolton Hospitals NHS Trust and Community Healthcare Bolton.
Guidelines have been put together by a steering group on how to deal with and prevent physical, emotional, sexual and financial abuse, whether it is intentional or unintentional.
More than 3,000 council staff will be trained over the next two years on what to do if they suspect someone is being abused or how to spot the signs.
The launch was led by Cllr Cliff Morris and speakers included Dr Jackie Bene, chairman of the steering group; Patrick Wallace, chief executive of Community Healthcare NHS Trust; and Chief Supt Mel Pelham of Bolton police.
