BOLTON MP Ruth Kelly is to forward a report into the Equitable Life to the independent inquiry looking into the workings of the life insurance society.
The MP for Bolton West, now Economic Secretary to the Treasury, will pass the dossier to Lord Penrose, who is in charge of the inquiry.
Equitable Life was put up for sale in 2000 after the House of Lords ruled that some members were entitled to pensions the society claimed it could not afford. The society remains solvent while the search for a buyer continues.
The report by the Financial Services Authority was presented to Parliament by Ms Kelly last week.
In a letter to Lord Penrose, she wrote: "By its very nature the FSA report deals with only two years of a story that covers more than 40 yearsl.
"By virtue of its wide ranging remit, your inquiry will be able to look as far back as necessary to the origin and development of the problem, and in detail at the actions of the society and all the other key players."
The FSA report into Equitable Life was commissioned in December 2000 to examine its role in regulating the society from the beginning of 1999 to December 2000, when it closed to new business.
