THE trial of a Bolton teacher accused of raping a 17-year-old schoolgirl was due to re-commence at Winchester Crown Court in Hampshire today.
In August the trial of Sharples Secondary School teacher Lee Savage was halted after one day when Judge Patrick Hooton fell ill.
Savage, aged 31, head of history at Sharples, is accused of raping and indecently assaulting the girl at a holiday park on the Isle of Wight. Savage, who is married, of Roseland Drive, Prestwich, denies the charges.
He was granted bail on condition he does not contact the girl, lives at his home address and does not go within a 20 miles radius of Bolton or Wigan town halls.
