A MOTORCYCLIST and passenger were recovering in hospital after an accident left them with serious injuries.
Police officers and paramedics were called to Duncombe Road, Great Lever, just after 8.30pm on Saturday after a Suzuki 250cc motorcycle left the carriageway.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident and police believe the motorcycle may have been in collision with a traffic island or traffic calming measures in Duncombe Road.
Sgt Kevin Donnellan, of Bolton Traffic Police, said Duncombe Road remained closed for three hours after the accident.
Warren Mason, aged 18, of Jackson Street, Kearsley, sufferered fractures to his right hand and wrist.
Passenger Gavin Smith, aged 25, of Headingley Way, Daubhill, suffered fractures to his right arm and leg.
Sgt Donnellan added that accident investigators attended at the scene and he appealed for anyone who witnessed the accident to contact PC Robinson on 0161 856 5972.
