Ramsbottom Utd 1 Atherton Colls 2
A GOALl from substitute Paul Vandenberg in the next to last minute earned in-form Colls a well deserved NWCL Division One derby win.
The first half finished goalless, the Rams having slightly the better of the attacking play, even hitting the crossbar through Chris Lomas, but Colls defending superbly. The start of the second half saw the Atherton outfit producing some tremendous football with the opening goal coming on 47 minutes when Kensite man of the match Keith Best intercepted on the halfway line setting Ryan Cain free to produce the perfect cross for Nicky Fisher to head home from six yards. Colls were prevented from increasing that lead by three quality saves from Rams keeper Keith Neild and on 74 minutes Russell Brierley levelled, his 16th goal of the season. United with substitutes Mick Langhorn and Steve Brennan introduced to the action, pushed forward only to be caught on the break and Vandenberg's 18 yard cool finish. The Rams man of the match was defender Dave Roach.
