SAM Allardyce was keeping his options open today as he continued his search for goalkeeping cover.

Determined not to be caught short at Aston Villa on Saturday, when his number one Jussi Jaaskelainen will be suspended, the Wanderers boss was running the rule over Nigerian international Abiodun Baruwa.

He is also considering taking Kevin Miller on loan after learning that the experienced stopper was unsettled at Barnsley after losing his first team place to Wales international Andy Marriott.

Reports suggesting the 32-year-old former Exeter, Birmingham and Watford keeper had rejected an offer to join the Reebok ranks were, apparently, premature with Allardyce confirming he was planning to speak to Miller again today.

"I've been talking to Kevin Miller," the manager confirmed. "He's asked for time to consider whether this is something he wants to do. In the meantime we're still looking around."

Baruwa flew in yesterday for a trial which he hopes could put him in the frame at Villa Park.

The 27-year-old Olympic gold medalist has played in the Champions League with the Austrian club Sturm Graz, having previously had European experience with FC Sion in Switzerland.

His agent Alan Bentley said: "It is only a year ago that Abi was playing Champions League football against Rangers. He is looking for a chance in this country and is grateful that Sam Allardyce has given him a week to show what he can do."
