OPERA 74 makes a vibrant start to the season with a concert performance of Carmen by Bizet.
The event takes place on Saturday, December 1 at the Victoria Hall Bolton and will give a taste of an opera classic to young members of the Children's Amateur Theatre Society.
The children, who rehearse in Bolton, will appear in an experienced cast as the "young voices".
Carl Penlington-Williams will be musical director taking charge of the Opera 74 chorus and orchestra. He will be joined by a prestigious line up of soloists.
Performance
Carmen will be sung by mezzo soprano Karina Lucas, who will be remembered for her fine performance as Olga in the May production of Eugene Onegin.
Karina is a post graduate of The Royal Northern College of music and has sung in oratorio and opera both at home and in Europe.
Micaela will be sung by Jane Hyde a favourite with Opera 74 audiences for her many impressive concert and Operatic performances.
The role of Don Jose will be sung by Martin Toal, who, although a newcomer to Opera 74, is well known in music circles in the Manchester area. Paul Gibson of Opera North who has previously performed with Opera 74 will take the role of Escamillo.
