Ladybridge of the Premiership gained success at last with their first win at home in a game against Smithills that produced eight goals.
Ladybridge's goals came thanks to a double strike from Thornley and one each for Hinks, Riley and Whitley with Williams and Clarkson replying for Smithills.
A & A Pineapple seem to be going through a rocky spell at the moment losing again to a strong Breightmet side, whose winning goal came from Donohue.
Pineapple's defeat allowed Carters Arms to take over top spot after thrashing Oasthouse 5-2.
On target for the winnerrs were their leading marksman Clint McLoughlin, who banged in a brace, with further contributions coming from Birch, 2, and Hand.
In the Division One action to take place North West BMW powered into second place in the table with a fine 6-4 victory away at Fox & Stork. Scoring for the Stork were Young, 2, and Irwin.
Walkden gained their fourth victory of the season that enabled them to move up into third place after a close encounter against Long Pull. Leech struck a superb hat-trick with Stewart and Pender adding the rest. In reply for Long Pull were Morris, Price and Williams, 2.
