Rangers hit four to pick up cup success
DIVISION One outfit Fir Tree Rangers survived a potential 'banana skin' against Division Two leaders Courts in the first round of the Davenport Cup.
Goals from Neil Rushworth, Paul Jones, Phil Halsall and Les Smith saw them ease into the next round with a significant 4-0 away win.
Mick Langin scored twice in Rope & Anchor's 5-0 home win over Ukranian Club, while Royal Oak beat Three Crowns A 3-0 and Kersal Vale had their expected easy win at home to Fir Tree Reserves with a 8-0 scoreline, Steve Tidmas getting a hat-trick.
Defending champions Higher Fold moved up to third in the Division One table with a 5-1 away win at Limelight, Neil Clayton grabbing a hat-trick.
Moonraker's strike duo did even better, Steve Anderton netting five and Steve Marsh four in a 12-3 stroll over Hag Fold. Leigh Avenue won 6-1 at FA Legion courtesy of goals from Steve Ackers 2, Ross Prentiss 2, Jason Carter and Ryan Devlin.
