A "HOMECOMING" concert by classical guitarist Neil Smith attracted a full house at St Mary's Church, Horwich.
The internationally renowned musician performed Spanish music from the last thousand years, Latin American pieces, and music by Stepan Rak and Brouwer.
He performed against candlelight and attracted glowing reviews. One Centre Stage reader said: "How can anyone express in words the magic of Neil's performance. He is one of the greatest interpreters of harmonics with superb techniques in all he plays.
"Neil's interpretation of Gran Jota by Tarrega is a favourite. The twisting of the strings to make the sound of a snare drum and the musical box tune enchanted the audience. The grand finale featured music by Stephan Rak. It is modern and robust and Neil played this to perfection. His playing of the Scottish Fantasy portrayed the sound of the Scottish fiddler and bagpipes.
"Neil played three encores, but the audience would have loved more."
