ATHERTON LR need to shake off the misery of Saturday's FA Vase by Hallam to concentrate on the NWCL Division One programme and tonight's visit of Great Harwood Town.

Equally Ramsbottom United need an answer sooner rather than later to the quandary of the current inconsistency in Mike Kelly's team. Tuesday's 6-0 trouncing of Winsford United was followed on Saturday by a 2-1 home defeat to Atherton Colls. The big games are coming thick and fast and tonight's visitors to the Riverside Ground, Newcastle Town, present another searching test.

Despite Saturday's 1-0 defeat at title rivals Harrogate Town, Radcliffe Boro still sit second in the Unibond Division One table one point behind leaders Ossett Town but with a game in hand. Boro entertain big rivals Chorley in a League Cup Group Stage tie tonight. In form Atherton Colls travel away to St Helens Town tomorrow night.

Meanwhile, Leigh RMI's Dave Mason was one of the real plus points for the Lancashire FA in Saturday's 4-1 Northern Counties Youth Cup defeat at Cheshire FA. The young striker played a starring role for the County Under 18s side scoring the goal and being denied on three other occasions by a Cheshire keeper in inspired form.
