ELIZABETH Filkin, Chairman of the "Commons Watchdog" committee, has been sacked from the position.

Of course it's only fair you should be sacked if you are incompetent (even when that rule doesn't apply to Cabinet Ministers), but Miss Filkin wasn't incompetent.

In fact, she has been described as being "too good" at her job (whatever that means), which has included carrying out detailed probes into Keith Vaz and Peter Mandelson.

It seems that "Open Government" is a good idea, except where it interferes with the behaviour of Cabinet Ministers!
