WITH regard to the correspondence about respecting the holy days (BEN: October 20).

I would just like to offer my congratulations to Mr Grenville Moore for his immense restraint in not quoting any passages from the Bible during his letter dated October 20. However, we see Mr Moore's Christian fundamentalism once more come to the fore, due to Sunday not being given equal non bombing status with Friday.

How exactly can it offend Christians if the Americans and ourselves are attempting to eradicate the evils of worldwide terrorism on a Sunday? Recent events now show bombings to continue on Fridays anyway.

Come on Grenville, tell us what your problem is. Is it because we're not Christian enough? And what does it matter if bombs were dropped before or after 'Vespers'? Which side of 'Vespers' carries the biggest sin?

As Mr Blair and Mr Bush have said, this is not a holy war. If we had to respect every religion's set day nothing would get done. Why favour Christianity over other religions? At the end of Mr Moore's letter I sense a warped jealousy in that one religion of this world is being treated differently than another and that other religion just happens to be Mr Moore's.

Finally Mr Moore, if you are so concerned, why not write to the 'powers that be' and quote them some of your 'Christian Scriptures' -- or perhaps Bush and Blair are already aware of your views via the BEN's website.
