A LANCASHIRE theme park reopened today following the death of a maintenance worker. Camelot at Charnock Richard, near Chorley, closed yesterday as a mark of respect to Harold Mathews, of Merton Road, Highfield, Wigan.
The 59-year-old was working on the Gauntlet ride when he was hit by the rollercoaster on Monday afternoon and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Health and Safety Executive and Lancashire police have launched an investigation. A postmortem examination was carried out yesterday but the results are not yet known. An inquest is due to be opened later this week.
