A MAN whose body was found at the back of a quiet Atherton cul-de-sac, died from the effects of fire.
A post mortem examination was carried out last night after police discovered the charred remains on a track off Prosser Avenue, Howe Bridge, Atherton, early yesterday.
The man, who has not yet been named, is believed to be local.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "The death is not being treated as suspicious and officers do not believe anyone else was involved. It is going to take a couple of days to indentify the body.
"His name will be released when he has been formally identified."
