THE venue for the Fur and Feather match of Lord Nelson A.C. caused a lot of thought to be given to the plan of attack on a Fleets Dam water in Barnsley which has given up summer carp bags of up to 700lbs.
But now in Autumn they were left pondering whether to go for small silver fish on the bloodworm on the pole or sit over the tip waiting for the carp. As it turned out only one angler took bloodworm and a worn out Kenny Stewart was left smiling after catching over 250 roach on the red stuff. His net was likened to that of a trawlers at the weigh in when the scales went round to a winning 13lbs-5ozs-0drs. Second was Mark Farrell who had carp on the tip for 12lbs-9ozs-4drs. Third was Trevor Hayes who fished similar methods for 10lbs-4ozs-0drs, Graham Carter was fourth when he had a 7lb carp in his finishing bag of 9lbs-11ozs-8drs. Sections: Alan Hughes 6-8-8, Trevor Bevin 4-1-8, Jock Porter 7-14-4.
