A CHORLEY teenager will proudly represent his town and country at the Royal British Legion's Festival of Remembrance in London next month.
Thrilled Adam Baker, 16, has been chosen to attend the ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall on behalf of the Sea Cadets.
A Chorley Sea Cadet for the past three-and-a-half years, Adam, of Brock Road, Chorley, will join two other Lancashire cadets at the event.
The county has swept the board by having been chosen to represent all three cadet services at the festival.
Air Cadet Philip Smith and Army Cadet Rachel Harris, both of Lostock Hall, have also been selected as the sole cadets from throughout the entire country to represent their services.
Adam, is a former pupil of St Peter's Primary and St Michael's High schools, Chorley.
A leading sea cadet at TS Invincible in Chorley, he has been accepted into the Royal Marines and will officially join up on November 26.
He said: " I realise it's a honour to go down there and a privilege to have been chosen."
It is a big honour for all three local cadets as the Royal British Legion this year celebrates its 80th anniversary.
And it is seen as recognition for the work the cadets do for the Poppy Appeal -- Lancashire was the leading cadet fundraiser throughout the country last year.
John Hardiman, the Royal British Legion's county field officer for Lancashire, said: "Obviously we are delighted this young man has been selected to take part in the Festival of Remembrance and as every year we are grateful for the support of all cadets throughout the area in helping us raise money for the needy among the ex-service community."
Meanwhile, this year's Poppy Appeal is launched nationally today at Covent Garden, London. (Thursday, October 25)
