A BOLTON business counsellor has raised thousands of pounds for charity by walking in Peru.
Ross Bullock, aged 50, a business counsellor with Bolton Enterprise Services, has raised £2,500 to date for the Children's Hospital Appeal Trust by taking part in adventures such as walking along the Inca Trail in Peru.
Ross went on his exotic trip for ten days last month and joined 45 other people to raise money for the trust.
He said: "I only walked for about 26 miles in all but it was very high altitude. We were between 12,000 and 14,000 feet. It was far harder than I expected."
In Peru, Ross got the chance to see many fascinating monuments built by the Incas, who lived in the country for hundreds of years up until the 15th century.
Ross said: "Some buildings were built out of stone from meteorites, allegedly. The Incas built on rubble so buildings would not fall down during earthquakes. They also built around 20,000 miles of roads in South America for communication purposes."
He also raised some of the money by cycling from Ormskirk to Fleetwood in May and he has pledged to donate the proceeds of a book he is writing about his exploits. But he says the book will be on sale to his family and friends only.
