THE Burnden 10k road race was held on Sunday over a new, tough, two-lap course.
The only runner to complete the event in under 36 minutes was Rob Jackson of Horwich RMI Harriers. Peter Speake (Bildeston) and Ed Gamble (Stockport) followed in second and third place.
The Ladies race was won by Lesley Fisher of Burnden Road Runners, who used her local knowledge of the course to good effect in beating Susan Selby (Salford) by 16 seconds. Southport Waterloo beat Burnden by one point in the men's team race; while Wigan Phoenix bettered Horwich in the ladies team race.
