THE North Manchester area finals of the 2001 Shell Technology Enterprise Programme were held at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton.
Nine undergraduates from Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale and Wigan presented reports on the projects they had completed for local companies during the summer.
The event was sponsored by HSBC of Bolton.
Branch manager Martyn White provided the cash prizes of £850 presented to the students who competed for the honour of representing North Manchester in the regional finals.
Rajeshree Bhosle, a Bolton student who completed a computerised stock control project for Derby Firelec of Bolton won £150, but did not progress in later stages of the competition.
STEP is managed locally by Bolton Business Ventures.
BBV Business Development Manager Dennis Vint said: "Each year we get remarkable results. Project work is always of a high standard and both students and companies benefit from the experience."
