Radcliffe Boro 4 Osset Albion 1
ACE marksman Jody Banim was sent off in the final minutes of a home win that moved Boro two points clear at the top of the Unibond Division One table.
Through on goal for a possible hat-trick the striker was hauled down by visiting defender Mark Lafferty, a scuffle ensued and both players were shown red. Boro's win came on the back of a three goal first half blitz with a Richard Landon header on five minutes, then Banim taking centre stage with a superb juggle and 25 yarder on 25 minutes and lob over the keeper on 35.
The visitors got a goal back on 71 minutes only for Boro to get a fourth with Mark Dempsey's penalty given for the late unsavoury incident.
Skelmersdale Utd 2 Ramsbottom 1
A very poor performance saw the Rams deservedly beaten. Trailing to an early goal from Chris McHale, Russell Brierley levelled from close range firing home the loose ball after the home keeper had blocked but not gathered Jamie Taylor's effort. Yet again showing worrying signs of lack of confidence Mike Kelly's side rarely threatened in the second half and went down to a Brian Hatton goal 10 minutes from time. Left back Mike Langhorn got the man of the match vote.
Atherton Colls 2 Winsford Utd 2
Defending from set pieces let Colls down as the visitors took a two-goal lead through Adrian Reilly on 13 minutes and the same player, again from a corner, on 50 minutes. On the hour mark Keith Best crossed and Paul Dowle slid in to fire a beauty into the top corner.
The equaliser came on 75 minutes when Adam Lawrence crossed, Frank Smith headed on and Lee Potter was at the far post to slot home. Winsford had a player sent off but held on for the draw as Colls went close on three occasions. Midfielder Smith was named as the Kensite man of the match.
Prescot Cables 2 Atherton LR 0
Despite much first half possession with a lot of the game played in Prescot's half of the pitch, LR did not manage a single shot on target in the whole 45 minutes.
Both Cables' goals came in that first period within five minutes of each other. In the 10th minute Eddie Taylor turned in a right wing cross and five minutes later Neil Robinson headed the second. The second half was a drab affair with neither team looking like scoring. Prescot did not manage a single shot on target and LR managed just two, a Tony Smith free kick and a looping shot from Gareth Rowe.
Daisy Hill 1 Oldham Town 0
Terry Gaskell enjoyed a victorious start in his first game back in charge at New Sirs having taken over from deposed former boss Alan Aspinall in midweek.
The change of management had seen a mass walk out of players so the 11 fielded by Gaskell included just one regular and two fringe players from the previous regime with the numbers made up from reserve team players. The vital only goal was scored by man of the match Steve Harris who beat the offside trap to fire high into the corner.
BEN Star TurnTerry Gaskell - Daisy Hill
A Cobbled together side gave the new manager a winning start.
