REHEARSALS for Farnworth Little Theatre's November production of Veronica's Room have been given a boost with the discovery of an authentic 1930s recording.
The record, an American musical number, was required by the script but it proved elusive until the theatre company turned to Centre Stage for help.
Reader Alan Horsfall from Farnworth responded almost immediately.
Director John Price said: "It is absolutely ideal and sets the atmosphere perfectly."
John has been a member of FLT for 24 years. His most recent production was the acclaimed Someone Who'll Watch Over Me.
However, he has wanted to direct Veronica's Room for a long time.
He said: "It is a nailbiting drama which stretches the emotions almost to breaking point and its small cast of four enable a director to explore greater depths of characterisation.
"It starts when a seemingly kindly elderly couple befriend a young student and persuade her to dress up as the long-dead Veronica.
"The plot then twists and turns to its ultimate shocking conclusion. It is a gripping play but not suitable for children."
The cast comprises FLT stalwarts Eric and Mona Smith, Kerry Gaskell and newcomer Darren Vass.
It opens Saturday, November 10 with performances every night the ensuing week. The box office is open 5.30pm to 6.30pm each evening except Sunday, on 303808.
