CHORLEY'S first drawn match of the season on Saturday was quickly followed by another when the Magpies picked up a hard-earned point in the UniBond First Division.
Chorley started purposefully and, after Danny Mills had fired too high from the edge of the box, Paul Fleming and Andy Mason combined to set up Peter Smyth.
His shot, however, unluckily bounced down and out from the underside of the bar.
Kendal gradually came more into the game and had better luck on 28 minutes when following a corner former Padiham striker Lee Chambers turned cleverly to get in a cracking shot from 25 yards which struck the bar but cannoned into the net.
Mason had a chance to put Chorley level but his effort looped straight at the keeper and as play switched from end to end Simon Marsh had to race from goal to clear from the inrushing Kevin Barnes.
Early in the second half Barnes might have increased Kendal's lead but his hurried shot on the turn flew over the bar and the Magpies drew level on the hour with a fine goal.
Lee Molyneux, impressive at the heart of the Chorley defence, was the provider, sending Mason racing down the flank to the by-line.
The striker left two defenders in his wake as he cut back in-field before hitting a superb low drive into the far corner of the net for his 12th goal of the season.
Both sides had chances near the end but a draw was a right result.
RESULT: KENDAL TOWN...1 CHORLEY...1
