A SERVICE for local residents to remember people they have lost is being held at Bolton Parish Church on Sunday.
"In Memory" is the name of the service, held at 3pm, when among those remembered will be the victims of September 11.
The Rev Debby Plummer, lecturer of the Parish Church, explained that it had been decided to hold this kind of service because "November is very much a month of remembrance."
It provided a time for people to think about loved ones. The Book of Remembrance would be read in full, with a page for every day, and a sheet was held at the Church for anyone to suggest individuals to be remembered on the day.
It would be a "very straightforward" service, she added, with favourite hymns like "Oh God Our Help In Ages Past", and tea served afterwards.
All those who have had funerals at the Parish Church during the past year would also be remembered.
"We hope it will be the kind of service that people will enjoy, and find useful," added Rev Plummer.
Any names can be added for public acknowledgement at the service on a sheet at the back of the Church, which is open in the middle of the day, Tuesday to Saturday. Names can be held permanently in the Church's own Book of Remembrance. It costs £10, cheques to be made out to Bolton Parish Church PCC, and details submitted on special sheets in the Church.
