JUSSI Jaaskelainen will step back into the Premiership spotlight on Saturday with his reputation and valuation at new heights.

The Wanderers' number one - suspended at Aston Villa as a result of a rare error of judgment - returns to face Everton with a ringing endorsement from Sam Allardyce, who says without fear or favour: "I've got a top level goalkeeper."

The Bolton boss has measured the Mighty Finn against the men who are commanding staggering transfer fees and, as he made efforts to draft in Barcelona's Richard Dutruel on loan, he had no hesitation in boasting that he already has one of the best.

Allardyce said of the understudy who won praise for his performance on his Premiership debut in the 3-2 Villa Park defeat: "No disrespect to Steve Banks, who is a very good goalkeeper in his own right, but the form that Jussi's shown has put him in the top Premiership goalkeeper bracket.

"Now he has to continue to show that and make himself even better because, if the core of the team is right, we'll not be far off being successful in the Premiership."

The last time Jaaskelainen played at the Reebok, he threw down his shirt in anger after being sent off for handling the ball outside his area under pressure from Alan Shearer. Wanderers trailed 1-0 at the time before eventually going down 4-0, Bo Hansen having been pressed into service because Banks was injured and there was no goalkeeper on the subs' bench.
