FRED Longworth High School is seeking skilled players for its new community band.
The Tyldesley school is inviting musicians to join them provided they are aged between 14 and 18, enjoy playing jazz and contemporary classics, can read music and have qualifications at grade four or five.
The new band, the Fred Longworth Bigger Band, is aimed at identifying young talent and helping them to rehearse and refine their skills in a professional but relaxed set-up.
Adult players will also be welcome, especially trombonists.
The band will be led by Rick Asbury on trumpet and keyboards and Duncan Winfield, one of the North West's finest trombone players.
Anyone interested is welcome to join rehearsals which start on Monday, from 7-9pm in the school staffroom.
