POLICE are investigating hate mail sent to Bury Football Club.
Six death threats have been mailed to staff at Gigg Lane and a knife has been sent through the post to the Birthdays Superstore next to the ground over the past two months.
One female employee has also been followed home by a mystery male car driver.
Last month, a threatening note was delivered to the club singling out goalkeeper Paddy Kenny.
Chairman Terry Robinson yesterday revealed that the club had received three threatening letters on Wednesday.
The letters were posted on Tuesday night as Bury played Notts County in the LDV Vans trophy competition.
Mr Robinson said: "I will not reveal exactly what the letters said but they were very threatening. They contained a mixture of death threats and threats to harm.
"They were posted to three individual staff members. Two work at the Birthdays store and one at the club."
To protect staff, Mr Robinson says he now opens all mail to the club.
The campaign is believed to be in connection with the Birthdays store selling Manchester United goods and goalkeeper Paddy Kenny's revelation that he is a United fan. SINGLED OUT: Bury goalkeeper Paddy Kenny MORE THREATS: Chairman Terry Robinson
