DETECTIVES carrying out an investigation into the death of a former jeweller found with facial bruises and a bloody nose on the kitchen floor at his home have ruled out any criminal involvement, an inquest was told.
Bury District Coroner Mr Barrie Williams was hearing evidence in the case of 55-year-old bachelor Mr Stuart Hamilton Renwick, of Bamford Close, Bury, who was found dead by his brother on August 7.
Mr Renwick was in his dressing gown clutching papers in his hand.
PC Paul Robson told the inquest Mr Renwick had bruises under his eye and on his cheek and there was blood on his face and nose, however the room was tidy and the were no signs of any struggle.
Because of the injuries a Home Office pathologist was called in.
The mystery was unravelled by pathologist Dr William Lawler, who discovered a pulmonary embolism due to deep vein
thrombosis. He said Mr Renwick's injuries were consistent with several falls due to the effect of such blood blockages.
Mr Williams recorded a verdict of death by natural causes.
