SPECTACULAR multi-coloured lights flashed across the sky during the annual firework display at Leverhulme Park.
Thousands of pounds were spent on the 15 minute extravaganza last night which left the large crowd open-mouthed.
As well as the centrepiece fireworks, children also enjoyed being thrilled on the traditional fairground.
The usual refreshments were on offer too, such as toffee apples and black peas.
Steve Bailey, Bolton Council's events co-ordinator, said this year's display at the Breightmet park had been as popular as ever.
He said: "Fortunately, the weather dried up just in time and we had a very good turn out, probably between 7,000 and 10,000 people.
"The firework display was 15 minutes of all out mayhem, which went down very well."
A Preston company called Inspiration was behind the dazzling display. They have been involved in the event for the past five years.
Other bonfires were held throughout the town
