HANSON 2 ELTON 1st 1
IT only took two minutes for Hanson to take the lead when Norma Jones scored from a penalty corner.
Hanson continued to press, and it looked as though it was only a matter of time before they would go further ahead but Elton slowly got their game together and after 12 minutes Claire Sharples equalised following a melee in front of goal.
In the second half both teams had near misses. Elton's best chance came after 50 minutes, when, for a short period, they put Hanson under intense pressure, and would have scored but for excellent saves by goalkeeper Joanne May. Within a minute of clearing their lines Hanson clinched the win when Hayley Dunn's cross was tapped in by Justine Robinson.
POM -- Norma Jones (Hanson) and Lauren Curle (Elton).
EAGLEY QUINS 7 NOMADS 0
Eagley Quins bounced back following their defeat the previous week and from the moment Gill Mayer scored the opening goal, Nomads never looked like getting back into the match. Goals came at regular intervals and Sam Aston scored the second with a good clean shot from the edge of the circle. Quins could have scored more, but too often their forwards hung onto the ball just too long,
and lost it in the ensuing tackle. Rachael Hawkrigg was a tower of strength for Nomads, and Sue Booth added a third goal just before half time. Nicola Hunter-Dale scored from a narrow angle after the break. Gill Mayer grabbed the sixth goal to complete her hat-trick.
POM -- Gill Mayer (Eagley Quins) and Rachael Hawkrigg (Nomads.
ST JAMES 1 ROYDON LADIES 1
Roydon applied strong pressure from the start of the game, but they had to wait until mid way through the half before Bernadette Sumner scored.
In the second half Roydon continued to attack, with Helen Grundy supplying some useful passes, and Vicky Hill using her speed to unsettle the defence, it looked as though they must score. The St James defence held firm, and Claire Russell grabbed an equaliser in the closing minutes.
POM -- Lesley Maddocks (St James) and Vicky Hall (Roydon Ladies).
Results -- Eagley Quins 7 Nomads 0; Hanson 2 Elton 1st 1; Darcy Lever 0 Little Lever 6; Elton 2nd 1 County Ladies 1; St James 1 Roydon Ladies 1.
Six-a-Side -- Hindley 2 Little Lever 7; Bolton Ladies 3 Hanson 2; County 2 Roydon 5; Sladians 4 Elton 5.
