PREPARATION is everything and Bolton's Library Service is leading the way after producing a guide to help youngsters through the hardships of homework.
The Library Service has produced a special leaflet aimed at parents and young people which explains how the libraries can help and what resources they can offer to help with homework.
It has been sponsored by computer giants ICL and gives details of the books and Information and Computer Technology (ICT) materials available to help young people with their school work.
It also gives hints on how young people can make the best use of their research time in libraries.
Children from Year 6 at Oxford Grove Primary School converged on Halliwell Library for the official launch of the leaflet with library staff and representatives from ICL.
Halliwell was chosen because it is soon to become one of the few libraries other than the town's Central Library to receive computers and their its cyberspace area.
The Homework Guide leaflet will be distributed to nine to 11 year-olds through their schools to prepare them for primary and secondary school homework. HANDS UP: Children from Year 6 at Oxford Grove Primary celebrate the launch of a new homework guide at Halliwell Library Ref: J3033/13
