Winter Rounders FOR the first time this season, rain affected Winter Rounders matches at both Harper Green and Barlow Park and made conditions unpleasant for all concerned, but being Winter Rounders, the players just got on with the task in hand.

In the John Smith's Farnworth League Section 'B', Tonge Moor Conservative Club picked up their first points of the campaign. They beat Advance Computer Systems by 23 runs and did so with just ten players and this week had five bats to share amongst them.

Tonge Fold XI won the crunch match against ASAP and are now two points clear at the top of the section.

Bolton Motor Bodies are joint second after beating White Horse by an innings. Mytham Ladies win over the youngsters of Harper Green gives them a share of second place, just two points behind the leaders but six points clear of the group below.

Darcy are the only unbeaten side in Section 'A' and their comfortable victory pushed Hanson down into joint third place with Imago, who beat Siddons, and Adlington. Royal Hotel, with just one defeat, are two points behind the league leaders and two ahead of the chasing pack.

Morris Roofing and Westhoughton & District share top spot in the Halliwell League; both unbeaten after five matches, but the deadlock could be broken on November 18 when the sides meet.

Westhoughton beat Lower Pools by 68 runs whilst Morris Roofing had a closer finish, beating KJs by 19.

BRUFC gave Hulton Lane Ladies a start of 50, but were ahead 81-74 at the interval, dismissing their opponents in 28 good balls and limiting Hulton to ones and twos. Although Hulton Lane fared better in the second innings, BRUFC were comfortable winners by 45 runs.

Farmers XI were remarkably consistent, scoring 74 in each inning, but after allowing opponents Bolton Lads & Girls Club four rounders in the first innings, tightened their fielding in the second period to dismiss them for just 38 in 22 balls and take victory by 44 runs.

Smithills Coaching House had to give JR a ten-run start, which was too much allowing JR to pick up their first points of the season. Darcy XI's 77-run win over luckless Cheetham Ladies, keeps them in third place, just two points behind the joint leaders, but will have a tough match next Sunday when they face high flying Westhoughton.
