ST MARY'S Dynamos closed the gap at the top with a convincing victory in the under 7s North Western League.
Bolton County Tigers earned their first points of the season with victory over Horwich Meteors. Ladybridge Rangers' draw against Brandlesholme Warriors allowed Eagley Rangers to share top spot after they defeated Oxford Grove.
In the Under 8s Alpha, Lads Club stay top after running riot against Hindsford 8-0, Pinches (3), Gowan (2), Costello, Holland and Brown all on target.
Horwich S M Bombers keep up the pressure with a fine 3-1 win against Westhoughton Rangers, Howell (2) and Melia scoring for Bombers. Wigan Town and Bolton County Panthers fought out a very competitive 1-1 draw, goals from Tyson and Cuniffe for their respective clubs. Last season's champions, Ladybridge Ath, scored in the last minute to earn a share of the spoils drawing 3-3 against Hindley Jun Jets, Prescott, Glover, Wells for the Jets and Spencer, Haydock and Allinson replying for Athletic. Farnworth Jaguars are still looking for a win but went down 4-2 against Bolton County Pumas for who Josh Bowman scored a hat-trick, Woodcock scoring both for the Jaguars.
The Under 8s Beta top group is Springside Junior Wolves after winning 3-0 against St Andrew's, goals from Cousins, Smith and Matthews to secure the points. North Walkden stay in contention as do Brandlesholme Warriors who drew 3-3 in what was a great advert for junior football. Parkinson, Wallwork, Boardman all finding the net for North Walkden. Boothstown Pumas got back to winning ways and share second spot after winning 2-0 against Leigh RMI, Pendlebury scoring both goals. Ladybridge Bulldogs lost 4-2 against Westhoughton Park Rangers -- Pollard, O'Donnell and an own goal helping Rangers to two points.
In the Under 8s Gammas, Bromley Cross Rhinos stay joint top although losing 4-3 at Bolton County Crusaders -- Davies (2), Potter and Johnson scoring for County to secure their first win. Little Hulton Lads share top spot, a goal from the prolific Ben Giveren just edging a 1-0 win against Astley Bridge. The battle of Horwich went to the Torpedos who disposed of the Bullets by 5-1 thanks to Lewis (3), Docherty and Evans, Smith scoring for Bullets. Hindley Junior Hornets beat Winsfield Rovers 2-0 to climb up the table, Aspinall and West scoring. Ladybridge Crusaders crushed Springside Wanderers 4-0, Hollins, Holland and Hollarhan with two, making it a good day for the Crusaders.
In the Under 9s Section A, Bolton County Raiders secured their first point of the season with a 3-3 draw at St Mary's Warriors. Alex Meaney, Matt Ormrod and Aaron Harper scored for Raiders with Ryan Kane, Ben Prescott and Myles McGrillen replying for the Warriors. A brace from new signing Joe Davies gave Boothstown Casuals a narrow win over Lads & Girls Club, whose Jordan Lomax found the net. St Mary's Vikings produced another solid performance with a 2-0 away victory over CMB Assassins. Thomas Axon-Smith and Ross Hapworth scoring the goals. Brandlesholme Warriors and Westhoughton Rangers played out a 5-goal thriller with Brandlesholme running out 3-2 winners with goals from Alex Lenkowski (2) and Luke Chapman.
In the Under 9s Section B, Walshaw Park Wolves secured their second consecutive win, with 2-1 victory at Bolton County Lions. Thomas Finch scoring both the goals with Liam Evans on target for the Lions. Nathan Halliwell (2), Lewis Peacock, Connor Lennon and Stefan Halsall scored for Astley Bridge Boys in their 5-1 win over Boothstown Corinthians. Farnworth Tigers continue in top spot with a 3-1 win over Eagley Rangers. David Ball, Connor Hughes and Simon Biggar were on target.
In the Under 9s Section C, the top three -- North Walkden, Hindley Juniors Hornets and Bromley Cross Aces all had comfortable victories. Anthony Entwistle and Matt Neary scored for Bolton County Broncos but Scott Walsh bagged a brace for Astley Bridge Tigers to secure a 2-2 draw. Another 2-2 draw was played out between Rivington Juniors and Bolton County Cougars. Matt Unsworth and Kieran Thomson put Rivington in front, but a terrific free kick from Chris McNulty and a Thomas Cummings effort ensured the points were shared.
In the Under 9s Section D, Tom Brocklehurst scored the only goal of the game, as St Mary's Barbarians inflicted the first defeat of the season on New Bury Knights. Oxford Grove Lions won 4-1 against Farnworth Panthers. Ladybridge Lions produced a strong performance to win 5-0 at St Mary's Aztecs. Farnworth Pumas move into the top slot with a 2-1 victory over Boothstown Celtic. Gordan Swindles and Aaron Alcock securing the points.
U9s -- Next week's CUP DRAW sees St Mary's Warriors v Bolton County Lions; CMB Assassins v Bolton County Raiders; Bromley Cross Wizards v Oxford Grove Tigers; Hindley Juniors Hornets v Farnworth Panthers; Brandlesholme Warriors v Leigh RMI; Farnworth Pumas v Ladybridge Rangers. All other teams go to the next round -- draw takes place Monday, November 12, at the meeting.
In the Under 10s A Section Horwich Panthers were the victors in a close game with Hindley Terriers. Bromley Cross and Ladybridge Athletic produced 17 goals in what must have been a thrilling game. Ladybridge were the winners with 10 goals including five from Settle. Woodbank overcame the challenge from Lads Club and won with goals from Morris and McGadle. Redford scored for Lads Club.
In the Under 10s B Section, Farnworth Cougars continued their great early season form in their away win at Woodbank. The Farnworth goal scorer was Lane. Brandlesholme A faced tough competition in their game against Atherton Colls and on the day were not good enough as Atherton won the game comfortably with all four goals coming from Brock. Dyson scored a consolation goal for Brandlesholme A. Brandlesholme B were also soundly beaten in their game against Bolton County Gurkhas who got into double figures with a display of free attacking football and sharp finishing. Bolton County SAS had an exciting game with Hindley Tigers that ended in a 3-3 draw. Brookes (2) and Samuel scored for County. Yates (2) and Barstow scored for Hindley.
In the Under 10s C Section Leopards take the league top spot after a comfortable win against YM Cobras, Brown, Burton and Mitchell scored the Leopards' goals. Horwich Cougars are also looking at a top spot after their victory against Astley Bridge with goals from Davies, Corrigan and Wass. Leigh RMI Eagles and Ladybridge Lions, two of the strongest teams in the section, met in an encounter that did not disappoint. An exciting game with seven goals was won 4-3 by RMI with Ratcliffe, Darcy and Osborne getting their goals. Bromley Cross won against Hindsford with Latham, Rheil and Probert the scorers.
In the Under 10s D Section, County Warriors go to the top of the table after their win at New Bury. Dorsey bagged seven of the Warriors' goals, with Brooks and Farnworth also adding to their 10-goal tally. Leigh RMI Hawks are also looking strong and a hat-trick from Kenny and other goals from Wallace and Pemberton they took all the points against Ladybridge Crusaders. Oxford Grove had their second win of the season after defeating St Mary's Cheetahs with two from Hamlan and other goals from Mew and Pearce. Mayren, Grimshaw and Cooper scored the Cheetahs' goals.
