Tempers ran high in the Carl Brown Memorial Trophy Round One clash between Moonraker and FC Legion.
Dennis Hilton of the home team and Gary James of the visitors traded punches leaving referee Gary Halliwell no other option but to produce the red card.
Moonraker won the game comfortably 5-0 , Steve Anderton getting two, Tony Whittaker, Steve Marsh and miscreant Hilton one each.
In Division One Leigh Avenue went behind to Mark Fielding and Les Smith goals for home team Fir Tree Rangers but bounced back for a 2-2 draw, Paul Banks getting both. Three Crowns A through Chris Dawber (2), Stuart Darbyshire (2) and Mick Shepherd beat George VI 5-2, John Clarke and Jess Thornley on the mark for the losers. Royal Oak won 6-3 at AFC Limelight through John France (2), Terry Flannery, Jason Huyton, Stuart Gaskell and a Dale Evans own goal. Lewis Gallimore, Chris Sutton and Harry Paddock scored for Limelight.
Howe Bridge Mills went top of Division Two on goal difference with Wayne Sankey and Aaron Walker both scoring twice for a 4-2 win at Horns Inn, Andy Tipping and Aiden Lavery scoring for the home team. Neil Hindley scored twice for Ukranian Club but his team still lost 3-2 to Concert Inn, Alan Campbell and Danny Jackson with two on the mark for the winners. Stuart Neill (2), Jason Halliday and John McNally saw Fir Tree Rangers to a 4-3 home win over Asda Golborne, the visitors goals coming from Gary Nugent, Dave Wood and Darren Evans. Atherton Royals and Three Crowns B drew 4-4, Stuart Darbyshire (2), Dave Woodward and Rob Houghton on the mark for the home team with Jamie Shepherd (2), Dave Gregson and Kevin Parker replying.
